Plantronics 26716-01 cable is the bottom coiled cable that plugs between the Plantronics H-series headset and Plantronics M12, M10, or MX10 amplifiers. This cable is also used as a direct connect solution when using a Plantronics H-series headset with most Cisco IP Phones. When used with Cisco phones, no amplifier is required. Understanding Direct Connect Cables vs. Amplifiers:

When using any H-series headset, a Direct Connect Cable or amplifier is required to plug in between your headset and phone. Using a Direct Connect Cable will save you money versus an amplifier but an amplifier will provide optimum sound quality and volume controls.
