Sennheiser Presents MobileConnect to the World: a New Connection to the World

Sennheiser introduces a new connection to the world, the MobileConnect. The very first to provide mobile devices with live audio streaming, MobileConnect is a universal and user-friendly system, that is capable streamlining smartphone’s lip-sync audio content through a Wi-Fi connection. Easily and quickly installed, as well as ready to use and cost-efficient, the MobileConnect is consisted of two important parts: a wireless LAN router and a streaming server. It is capable of connecting users from their smartphones through a closed network.

Along with the MobileConnect is an application that converts the closed network connection into a mobile receiver. Transferring to the device some selected audio data, the multi-channel app of MobileConnect is capable of playing content through headphones conveniently.

Sennheiser Integrated Systems Division Director Andy Niemann admitted to be very proud of the product and said, “We are proud to be able to present our customers with really innovative streaming-based technology in the form of MobileConnect. This solution will enable our customers to simply use their own smartphones to receive audio contents in the future. They obviously know how to use their own device best of all and merely have to download the free MobileConnect app to their smartphone. At the same time, event organisers are no longer faced with the cost of providing, renting and maintaining the audio devices.”

And according to Niemann, being cost-efficient is not the only ideal thing about MobileConnect application that makes it great for organizations and companies in any industry. He added, "Additional features such as assistive listening in theatres, the provision of an audio track for silent screens in airport waiting lounges or simultaneous interpreting for public performances mean that MobileConnect enables our customers to upgrade and expand their range of possibilities."

And the best thing about MobileConnect solution is that it could be used in situations, which before were impossible for audio transmission. In fact, new customers can be acquired due to new application scenarios. Niemann explained it further, "It opens up completely new opportunities in the field of digital signage as well as in many areas of assistive listening."

Sennheiser MobileConnect’s test phase happened in several theaters successfully, including in:

This will be available free for iOS and Android, in the future. The application can also be downloaded in several app stores.

Before MobileConnect: Sennheiser’s CinemaConnect Application

Before the Sennheiser MobileConnect, the company already launched a different application known as the CinemaConnect application. Specially designed for cinemas and using the technology used in MobileConnect, the CinemaConnect application is capable of assisting help to cinemagoers who have some hearing or visual impairment issues by delivering assistive and descriptive audio and listening.

Started in May 2014, CinemaConnect application has been used in Hamburg, specifically in the Abaton Cinema.
